Hurricane Jose was located about 1,040 miles east of the Lesser Antilles and had reached wind gusts of 75 miles per hour, according to an advisory issued Wednesday by the Miami-based National Hurricane Center. Katia was the eleventh Atlantic storm named so far this year, following on from Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Jose. The National Hurricane Center track and 5-day cone has Katia staying to the southest of RU115 & RU16 deployed on the Mid-Atlantic Shelf. As if the Atlantic hadn't had an already active hurricane season, tropical storms Katia and Jose reached enough strength Wednesday afternoon to reach hurricane status.
